De Maan is het archetypische principe dat te maken heeft met de zoektocht naar het zelf, karma en de laatste hindernis. Symbolisch gezien is de Maan een poort, de ingang van een donkere tunnel, maar aan het einde wacht het licht. De poort is ook een voorstelling van het vrouwelijke geslachtsorgaan en symboliseert het onbewuste, gevaarlijke, vrouwelijke aspect. Toch kan alleen langs deze weg nieuw leven ontstaan.

Op de tekening staat een nietig figuurtje voor de ingang van de poort. De tocht is lang en moeizaam geweest, maar aan de andere kant wacht het licht. Hoe griezelig en gevaarlijk de ingang er ook uit ziet, deze laatste hindernis moet genomen worden.

This gate also represents the female genitals, symbolising the unconscious, dangerous feminine aspect. Still, new life is only possible through this way.

The drawing shows a small figure, standing in front of a gate. The journey has been long and difficult, but at the end of the tunnel the light is waiting. No matter how gruesome and dangerous it looks, this last obstacle has to be taken.
