One of the most important things I strive for when publishing on the WWW is to make sure that the content of the site will always be accessible. I feel that, no matter what Webbrowser, Operating System, or screen a visitor uses, the content must be easily accessible always. Not only do I find it annoying to run into a website that claims to be optimised for browser X and screen resolution Y
and claims you absolutely need javascript and plug-in Z
, I'm convinced there is absolutely no need for such restrictions.
What's more, making Websites accessible doesn't mean they have to look boring. I'm not afraid to use colours, images, sounds, movies, etc. Making Websites accessible also doesn't mean there need to be several versions for different browsers. All it means is you've got to know what you're doing. I know what I'm doing ;-)
Have a look at some sites I created. I try to create sites that navigate well; load fast; look good. Use whatever browser, Operating System and screen you prefer. It will work well.
