Madurodam
Madurodam is a small scale miniature town at Scheveningen (near The Hague) and is since many years one of the most important tourist attractions of the conurbation of Western Holland (called "Randstad"). On a scale 1:25 a charming picture of The Netherlands is given in bird's eye view: several important buildings, churches and townscapes are reconstructed up to the smallest details. There is also a fine transport system: a network of railroads, harbours and motorways covers the park and Madurodam Airport enables air traffic with all continents.
The miniature suite Madurodam consists of eight short parts presenting a musical impression of the smallest town in The Netherlands.
I Reveille
the piccolo flute and the side drum announce a new day;
II Toy Soldiers
there is a military parade in front of the George Maduro Barracks;
III Binnenhof/Buitenhof
a solemn melody is the main theme of the suite and depicts the state buildings and the nearby lake "Hofvijver" at The Hague;
IV Small Windmills
everything that moves or whirls at Madurodam is described in this barrel organ waltz;
V Intermezzo/Nocturne
 Madurodam by night is described by a solemn passage played in unison by the lower instruments;
VI The Westerkerk Church
also the capital Amsterdam is represented with the chimes of the famous Westerkerk church;
VII The Muiderslot Castle
an elegant pavane recalls medieval atmospheres;
VIII "Grande" Finale
the windmill theme comes back and then the suite comes to an end with the "Binnenhof" theme, decorated by the first strains of the national hymn "Wilhelmus".
 
Madurodam was commissioned by the NIB (Dutch Wind Music Institute) with financial support of the Composition Trust "Fonds voor de Scheppende Toonkunst".

 
Madurodam
De miniatuursuite Madurodam bestaat uit acht korte deeltjes die tezamen
een muzikale impressie bieden van Nederlands kleinste stadje.

I. Reveille
de piccolo en de kleine trom kondigen een nieuwe dag aan;
II. Soldaatjes
voor de George Madurokazerne vindt een militaire parade plaats;
III. Binnenhof/Buitenhof
een statige melodie vormt het hoofdthema van de suite en schetst de regeringsgebouwen en de hofvijver in Den Haag;
IV. Molentjes
 alles wat kan draaien in Madurodam wordt uitgebeeld door een draaiorgelwalsje;
V. Intermezzo / Nocturne
Madurodam bij nacht wordt verklankt door een gedragen unisono passage in de lage instrumenten;
VI Westerkerk
ook de hoofdstad Amsterdam is vertegenwoordigd met de klokken van de Westerkerk;
VII Muiderslot
een elegante Pavane brengt ons even in middeleeuwse sferen;
VIII 'Grande' Finale
het Molentjes-thema komt nogmaals groots aan bod, waarna de suite wordt besloten met het Binnenhof-thema, omspeeld met de aanhef van het 'Wilhelmus'.

Madurodam werd geschreven in opdracht van het NIB [Nederlands Instituut voor de Blaasmuziek] met financiële steun van het Fonds voor de Scheppende Toonkunst.

Madurodam
Madurodam est une petite ville miniature qui se trouve à Scheveningen (près de La Haye) et qui depuis de nombreuses années est la plus importante attraction touristique de la conurbation de l'ouest des Pays-Bas.
Cette exposition donne un aperçu charmant des Pays-Bas à vol d'oiseau, à une échelle de 1/25. De nombreux bâtiments importants, des églises et des paysages urbains typiques y sont fidèlement reproduits jusque dans les plus petits détails. Même les transports ne manquent pas: un réseau de chemins de fer, de ports et d'autoroutes traverse le parc et l'Aéroport de Madurodam relie la ville miniature à tous les continents.

La suite miniature Madurodam est composée de huit mouvements brefs
qui constituent une impression musicale de la plus petite ville des Pays-Bas.

I. Réveil
la petite flûte et le tambour annoncent une nouvelle journée.
II. Des petits soldats
il y a une parade militaire devant la caserne Georges Maduro;
III. Binnenhof/Buitenhof
une mélodie solennelle forme le thème principal de la suite et dépeint le siège du gouvernement et l'étang "Hofvijver" à La Haye.
IV. Des petits moulins
 tout ce qui peut bouger et tourner à Madurodam est représenté par cette petite valse pour limonaire;
V.Intermezzo/Nocturne
la cité nocturne de Madurodam est mise en musique par un passage solennel joué à l'unisson par les instruments graves;
VI. L'église "Westerkerk"
la capitale Amsterdam est également présente avec les cloches de la célèbre église "Westerkerk";
VII. Le château "Muiderslot"
une élégante pavane crée une atmosphère médiévale;
VIII. Grande Finale
le thème des moulins revient et puis la suite se termine par le thème de "Binnenhof", décoré par les premières mesures de l'hymne national, le "Wilhelmus".

Madurodam a été composé sur commande de l'institution NIB (Institut néerlandais pour la musique à vent) avec l'aide financière de l'association des Fonds pour la Composition Musicale (Fonds voor de Scheppende Toonkunst).

Madurodam ist eine Miniaturausgabe einer Stadt in Scheveningen (in der Nähe von Den Haag) und es ist seit Jahren eine der wichtigsten touristischen Attraktionen des Ballungsraumes im Westen der Niederlande (Randstad genannt). Im Maßstab eins zu fünfundzwanzig bekommt man ein angenehmes Bild der Niederlande aus der Vogelperspektive: verschiedene wichtige Gebäude, Kirchen und Stadtansichte sind bis in die kleinsten Details nachgebaut worden. Auch der Transport wurde nicht vergessen: so gibt es ein Netzwerk von Eisenbahnen, Häfen und Autobahnen und der Flughafen Madurodam ermöglicht Luftverbindungen mit allen Kontinenten.

Die Miniatursuite Madurodam besteht aus acht kurzen Teilen die eine musikalische Impression der kleinsten Stadt der Niederlande bietet.

I. Der Weckruf
die Pikkoloflöte und der Trommel kündigen einen neuen Tag an;
II. Miniatursoldaten
vor der George Madurokaserne findet eine Militärparade statt;
III. Binnenhof/Buitenhof
eine feierliche Melodie bildet das Hauptthema der Suite und schildert die Regierungsgebäude und den "Hofteich" in Den Haag;
IV. Windmühlen
alles was drehen kann in Madurodam wird in einem Drehorgelwalzer gestaltet;
V Intermezzo/Nocturne
Madurodam nachts wird von einer feierlichen unisono Passage bei den Tiefen Instrumenten vertont;
VI. Die Kirche "Westerkerk"
auch die Hauptstadt Amsterdam ist in Madurodam vertreten und gar mit den Glocken der bekannten Kirche "Westerkerk";
VII. Das Schloß "Muiderslot"
eine elegante Pavane ruft eine mittelalterliche Atmosphäre auf;
VIII. "Grande" Finale
das Thema der Windmühlen kommt mal zurück und nachher wird die Suite mit dem "Binnenhof" Thema beendet und dazu kommt noch der Anfang der Nationalhymne "Wilhelmus".

Madurodam wurde im Auftrag des NIB (NIB steht für Niederländisches Institut für Blasmusik) komponiert mit finanzieller Unterstützung des niederländischen "Fonds für kreative Tonkunst".
