Amsterdam is a bustling, lively city. Festivals, concerts, parties, and other cultural activities take place throughout the summer. These activities, plus the atmosphere of freedom and openness to all cultures attract thousands of youth from around the world each year. Amsterdam had a unique international flavour, with a tradition of having large numbers of foreigners in residence, especially in the world of art, dance and theatre. Amsterdam is the perfect example of a global village.
In the heart of Amsterdam lies ITW Arts, Studio Pallas. Located nearby the Central Station, the Westerpark and a shopping district filled with galeries and cafes, this brandnew studio is headed by Yahaira Salas, professional artist and coordinator at ITW.
Summerschool offers a unique and diversified programme for the youth, boys as well as girls. An enthousiastic and qualified team provides classes in:
During the Creative Empowerment lessons, students will learn how to freely express their imagination by working with artistic materials such as paper, wood, paint, metals, textiles, ceramics and stone.
By learning how to master unknown media, students can build more confidence in their abilities, develop their skills, and discover those skills they never knew they had. The cultural exchange in Summerschool will also help to improve mutual understanding.
In Drama class self-expression through speech and acting are emphasized. Through this training, students will learn how to be more conscious of their voice, attitude and behaviour.
The English language lessons are not only based on grammar, but also on listening and speaking skills. The goal is to be able to converse in English, which is a necessity in foreign countries.
In order to ensure a personal and intensive training, each teacher will only be assigned six students.
Lessons are available both at beginners' and advanced level.
Thanks to the individual guidance which is offered, each student can work at his or her own pace.
Summerschool will organise two excursions per week to various places with themes such as theatre, museums and other cultural events. Additionally, we provide information on cultural activities and night-life in Amsterdam.
The duration of the programme is three weeks and classes are given 2 days per week. Two classes of 2 hours each will be given on each training day.
