Vanaf heden kunnen wij (weer) terecht bij het Cygnus Gymnasium. Het Cygnus-gebouw ligt aan de Wibautstraat vlak bij het metrostation. Het formele adres is: Cygnus Gymnasium, Vrolikstraat 8, 1091 VG Amsterdam.
De bereikbaarheid van het gebouw is uitstekend. Een metrohalte is letterlijk voor de speelzaal.
Een nette fietsenstalling bevindt zich op het schoolterrein.
Ook is er een (beperkte) mogelijkheid tot het parkeren op het schoolterrein.

Op donderdag 18 september vindt de jaarlijkse algemene ledenvergadering plaats.

This week Mr Smith decided to run an interesting knockout tournament with different time controls per round. Once people were knocked out they would then go into an all-play-all table playing 3/2 with the highest scorer winning that group.
In the knockout each round was 3 games long with Round 1 5/0, Round 2 2/2, Quarter Finals 5/5, Semi Finals 4/2 and the finals being 5 games of 1/0!
Round 2 saw a big shock with Pim falling prey to Elco Hakvoort. Pim however had maybe played a cunning 'swiss gambit', then going very early into the group stage and comfortably winning that with 6/7 losing only to Morrison Lesger. Morrison himself only lost one game (against yours truly) but more beer and less games would prove to be his downfall.
Elco would make it all the way to the Semi-Finals, losing to Victor Hendricks but Elco then won the 3rd place play-off (and a bottle of wine) against Tom Prent. Tom had a great knockout section but lost against a very strong former member, Yong-Hoon, who sadly tells us that he will continue playing for Purmereend in the KNSB league but he will be playing interne this season so definitely a strong challenger for the crown this year.
That left us with a final between Victor and Yong-Hoon which was won by Yong-Hoon 3-1 in the best of 5 games
